In recent times I’ve been contributing to We Jazz Magazine, the refreshed magazine of the Helsinki based jazz platform We Jazz. In the last decade or so, We Jazz has become one of Europe’s finest contemporary jazz record labels and jazz festivals. On top of that they also run a record store and since last year, a magazine. We Jazz Magazine initially originated in the margins of the We Jazz festival, as an extensive festival program brochure in newspaper format, but since the summer of 2021 it became a proper magazine, and given the critical acclaim the magazine’s been receiving since its first issue, it looks like it’s going to become a real mainstay of the We Jazz label. It’s published four times per year in book format with a glossy cover and it’s genuinely one of the most beautifully made jazz magazines currently in print, worldwide, period. For the first three issues I’ve contributed articles and visual essays about jazz ephemera from the European jazz scene of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Back copies can be ordered from the We Jazz Records Bandcamp page.
